When you browse the Internet or look for well-designed websites in CSS galleries or any other source of design inspiration, you’ll see that textures and patterns have become very common in modern Web design. Besides being almost a trend textures in web design is popular for a reason. Textures can be used in nearly endless ways and if you look for it you will notice that it is actually all over the place. In some cases visitors hardly mention it and in other cases textures are used as the main design element or for highlighting specific parts of the page.
Using patterns of real life things as design elements on a website can give it very realistic and laid back look and feel. In particular paper texture has been used a lot lately as backgrounds for the entire pages, in navigation, around featured content areas and so on.
