When the WWW was opened for commercial use back in 1991 few could imagine that it would evolve into a massive platform for online shopping. Since Amazone.com and eBay introduced their online shopping sites in 1995 the market for e-commerce B2C product sales for retail products now represent 8% of the total retail product sales in the United States. With an immense amount of $26 billion worth of clothes sold online fashion e-commerce websites thereby have become one of the most popular shopping categories online.

Before creating a fashion e-commerce website there are many factor’s to take into consideration. Studies show that 72% of women prefer browsing the Internet when looking for appeal making it the preferred place to look for inspiration. Having user-friendly features, lots of information of the products and even the possibility to study the products in greater details is important. One way to do this is to allow users to zoom in e.g. using a jQuery image zoom plugin. Small improvements that drive trust in the product and the merchant will make it more likely that your customers convert and return. Another popular technique used to close deals online is to either have an automated online assistant or a live chat function for sales and support help.

When you browse through this massive collection of fashion e-commerce website designs you might find inspiration for functions or designs you want to use on your own website. If you have not created a ecommerce website yet you should consider using some e-Commerce website templates for WordPress. The plugins available for WordPress makes it a great choise, especially WooCommerce. Many of the themes available for WordPress and WooCommerce have responsive capabilities and therefore allow you to have mobile users do shopping with comfort!

What is it with you guys and WordPress? I love WordPress and I use it very often. But this massive pushing of WordPress as you guys do is starting to annoy me. In this article you’ve done it again. In your intro you start with suggesting WordPress and Woocommerce as a good solution to build an ecommerce site upon. What follows is an endless list of randomly selected ecommerce sites and only one of it actually is using WordPress. My twelve years old daughter could have selected sites she likes and produce screenshots.

What is missing here and what I would have expected (read your own about page) is a little bit of analysis of what ecommerce platforms those sites are based on, why you’ve chosen them, maybe which templates and plugins they use. That information would have made your list somewhat useful. What we actually got here is just something you can find on oh so many showcase sites out there. I am sure you can do better.

Regards, Dirk
