The trend towards abstract in art has influenced not only the traditional media of visual arts like painting and sculpture, but also contemporary art forms. These include among others the craft of making logos which presently are created using graphic software. Indeed, abstract logos as they are called, are different from any other logo, since the imagery that they use tend to depart from reality or literal representation of ideas, unlike negative space technique in logo making where the designer resorts to clever usage of the color around the object to create suggestive figures but which are not as contemplative in meaning as those found in abstract logos.
The degree upon which the departure are portrayed can be either slight, partial or complete. Thus, when you see an abstract logo, you cannot help but wonder what object or form does the imagery represent and what does it mean. This is true especially if the name of the brand in itself is an abstract concept. For artists it is really a serious challenge to come up with a unique, beautiful and meaningful logo for something which is even difficult to visualize due to its being abstract.
Here are the examples of logos which are creatively designed and whose concepts are as elusive or enigmatic as abstract art can be. Yet, they are all catchy and really effective in making themselves stick to people’s minds, or so they seem. Check out these logos and share with us your thoughts along this line. Enjoy!
