40+ Stunning Website Designs and Textures With Heavy Use of Bokeh Effects

IT seams like on of the trends in Web Designs currently is using Bokeh Effects for Background designs. I have to admit that I like it a lot if it is used right. So what is Bokeh? In photography, bokeh is the blur in out-of-focus areas of an image. Bokeh occurs for parts of the scene that lie outside the depth of field. In web design it is not any type of bokeh that is being used but in particular the kind of Bokeh you will get from drops of water reflecting light while not being in focus.  Some would also claim that Bokeh of this kind could look like blood cells under extreme magnification. What over it is being photographed or if the bokeh is simply synthetic and created in Photoshop it makes website backgrounds look really dynamic and appealing. This post showcase excellent examples of Bokeh inspired web design and then provide a large list of Bokeh textures that you can use yourself. Share your site or just one you know if it’s missing in this article.

Awesome and Quite Different Wordpress Themes

OK I have to admit that I started tripwire magazine on the Joomla CMS platform. I did so because I had experience with Joomla and really found it to be an excellent and very flexible free tool for publishing content online. I did realize though at that time that Wordpress simply had better themes for starting a magazine style blog. Also Wordpress is much simpler and efficient for creating posts fast and have better support for tags and categories. So I decided to move from Joomla to Wordpress quite early and I still think it was the right choice. Joomla should not be underestimated though and must be on the list of candidate tools if you plan to build a new website. One of the premium theme developers that I remember well from working with Joomla is RocketTheme. The quality of the Joomla themes created by RocketTheme is amazing and I just realized the same is true for their Wordpress themes. This post gives an overview of RocketThemes latest development for Wordpress.

Call to action is a term used for elements in a web page that basically request an action from the user. Typically a press on a web page button indicates that a user is making a decision of some kind and buttons are one of the most important building blocks we have to implement call to action. Buttons are for that reason very important elements and they need to be well integrated with the overall design, easy to spot and use. Styling of buttons is typically achieved using CSS and graphic elements but there are a few other techniques available as well. Generally styling html form elements is difficult and is one of the areas where cross browser compatibility may still be an issues when trying to create a design that looks the same no matter what browser is used. What are you planning to do when your Blog can’t fit shared hosting any more?

What are you planning to to when your Blog can’t fit shared hosting any more?

Most blogs start out with a cheap shared hosting plan promising unlimited bandwidth, unlimited domains, unlimited disk space, unlimited databases, etc. As long as you have no or minimal traffic this is probably the best solution for you blog. Cheap Shared hosting on the other hand is NOT geared for blogs where traffic starts to go up and become serious. There are aspects of the “unlimited plans” that in fact are very limited and prevents you from ever making use of whatever may be advertised as unlimited. This is what you would expect as high quality individual service, dedicated server capacity etc. cost money and really can’t be given away for a few dollars monthly fee. The concept works because tons of websites sit on these hosting plans receiving only a few hits a day. Once you start utilizing server resources you don’t fit into the business model any more and will hit the limitations on CPU consumption, database query time etc. and then your blog is in trouble! Learn what we did at tripwire magazine and how we are doing after 6 month on a Hybrid VPS from WiredTree.
