With a Send Large Files service, you can easily send enormous files to people you work with and some services are even completely free.

One of the most frequent problems for marketing and creative agencies is how to send large files to clients and partners. Especially clients that are not well-rounded IT wise prefer having the work delivered on an e-mail as to sharing them via old but still useful technologies like FTP.

Send Large Files services are great for sharing files with “loose connections” as most of them require no registrations and configuration. However, compared tp online file storage services they may not be as secure and reliable. For long term and regular file sharing these services may therefore be worth considering. That said it is often much easier to share files through e-mails as most people can check their mail on the run making it ideal for situations where you need quick feedback in order to proceed the creative process.

As most mail servers have a restriction on attached files; sharing and receiving files exceeding 10MB often is a problem. This makes it almost impossible to send a high-resolution image or a video file over mail, and the involved parties will often not know immediately that the emails did not get through. Though Gmail and Yahoo will allow you to send larger attachments, you still have problems sharing larger files of high resolution.

There are many great online tools available to help you get started sharing huge files effectively. I have 20+ of the best tools to help you find your favorite. Many of these are free while others are premium versions. To help you gain a quick overview I have categorized them into Free and Premium – do keep in mind that some of the free versions also have a premium solution. If I missed out any great tools please let me know in a comment. Enjoy!

Those file size restrictions on e-mail is indeed a problem. I use Mediafire in sending large files. I’ve been using it for years.

Is there a reason you did not include yousendit.com, the granddaddy of all the services?
