With only a few days left to Christmas Eve waiting time may seem endless for children and the young at heart who anxiously await the annual visit from Santa Claus.
According to the legend Santa Claus is a large, overweight man with a long white beard and a deep, heartfelt laughter – Ho ho ho! He is often pictured wearing a red coat, with white collar and cuffs, white-cuffed red trousers, and black leather belt and boots. He is said to be living in the North Pole, where a large number of elves helps him with making toys and other presents to all the well-behaved children around the world. Every year on Christmas Eve, Santa Claus and his 9 reindeer’s lead by Rudolph, visits all of the well-behaved children. Santa Claus crawls down the chimneys with his gift back, to put gifts into the Christmas stockings by the fireplace. It is a tradition for children to put a glass of milk and a plate of cookies by the fireplace for Santa to enjoy on his onward journey. As he visits many homes and many children during Christmas Eve, he gets a lot of milk and cookies – and according to the legend that is why Santa Claus is a bit voluminous!
