Most photos we see in printed magazines, ads etc. have been manipulated one way or the other. This could be anything like removing skin impurities, making people look more skinny and even removing someone from a photo. The use of professional photo manipulation is sometimes criticized for creating an illusion of a perfect world and the question is… how do we know if something is original or not?

Manipulating photos, however, can be a lot of fun if the same techniques are used for combining different elements into new artwork. If you are not sure how to apply cool photo manipulations I recommend that you follow some Photoshop photo manipulation tutorials. It is quite popular to combine completely different animal races into a single perfectly composite creature – like adding a predator face to its favorite prays body. The results are often strange but puzzling. I’m amazed about the number of really high quality manipulations made available online. Expert designers really seems to use this niche of photo manipulation to have fun, train techniques and show off skills online at the same time. If you create photo art like this you should consider using a WordPress photo theme to showcase it online. I’m sure you will love these animal photo manipulation examples, and who knows; you may find inspiration and have a smile.

Haha sorry, but at least a few of these are kinda horrible, like MY level kind of bad…I’m guessing they just did it to be fun anyway so it doesn’t matter. The best ones are those that the lighting was also changed so it looks consistently fantasy.

Hey Larz,

Amazing site. Genious! Just getting into the field using photoshop. I can’t find out how to import an image/shape to my brush setting so I can paint it something like the standard shapes built in to the software. Any hints on that?
