I am a web designer. Thanks for your post. I am looking for a mobile plugin that will allow me to keep the desktop theme I design intact, and have people be able to view the site on a mobile phone. I understand with the plugins. I can customize it to go with the theme. I am deciding between plugin buddy mobile and one theme mobile. I do not like the free plugins that are available.

Great post and some very valuable info. I have a blog, was trying to get it displayed properly on my mobile. I am now stuck with a very basic doubt: Should I use a mobile theme or just a a plugin? What is the difference between the two?
I have found that most plugins will not work properly and are useless when it comes to mobile SEO and ad serving. Also, I do not want to buy a new theme (which has an inbuilt mobile theme) as I am pretty happy with my current one. Also, I don’t want to change my domain as well.
Can I buy a standalone mobile theme that will display my existing site content in a mobile format? I guess that will be helpful when it comes to SEO and ad serving. What are the other differences when it comes to a plugin?

You can do nothing, and get a great mobile view for smart phones, small tablets like the Kindle Fire, and large tablets like the iPad. But there are also other mobile customization options available. Unlike many mobile themes, the Weaver II mobile view presents a site that shares the look and feel of your main website, so your visitors get a unified experience.
If you do believe your mobile site should not match your main site, Weaver II does support the option of creating an entirely different custom theme for your site, or one that has as much tweaking as you want.

I have some questions on mobile support: is it only in the Pro version? I tried using the WPTouch as an alternative theme for mobile, and looks like that helps.
Also tested the site mobile support (w/ and w/o WPTouch) in mobiready.com, and the results were not great, e.g. it said “Your page does not use XHTML Mobile Profile”. Any suggestions?

These themes are beatifull, but I don’t think installing a mobile theme should be a top priority, unless you’ve already become a ‘real brand’ on the internet.
If you don not have mobile version of your website please get it as early as possible it is really beneficial for the business. For buying products people are using Internet in this they are saving time.
