Password Management Solutions To Keep You Safe

Password managers can be really essential tools that you can seriously benefit from if you do a lot of sensitive transactions over the Internet. We live at a time when it is possible, and actually commonplace, to do our shopping, banking, communications, and file exchange online.

The fact that online transactions have become commonplace has made it easy for unscrupulous entities to try to take advantage of this. These people do this by stealing passwords and thereby stealing identities. When someone steals our passwords and the associated accounts, we stand to see unexplainable withdrawals from our online bank accounts and unexplainable online purchases charged to our credit cards. The security of our emails and online file repositories also become compromised.

Password managers help can help you in different ways, but first of all to prevent identity theft from happening. It can be a challenge to create secure passwords for all the sites you are using right? For this reason we tend to use simple password we can remember and reuse them over and over again. Password managers help us by 1) creating passwords that are almost impossible to break 2) storing them securely and encrypted for us 3) automatically filling the forms on pages we enter. Question is which password management software should we select for this purpose? What password managers are considered to be the best today? In this article i will do a roundup of best password managers software, free and premium to help you choose what suits your needs.

Password Management Solutions

1. RoboForm

RoboForm Pro password management software allows multiple users to manage sensitive information on the same computer independently, and each account has its own master login. This means that your entire family can use RoboForm and everyone’s information will be kept private, so your kids can’t learn your passwords or vice versa.

Another available option is RoboForm2Go, a mobile version of the software that allows you to take your information with you on a flash drive so that you can access your protected accounts from anywhere. This option is included for free in some of the other password managers, but costs a little extra through RoboForm – $19.95 for one license, to be exact, though they do often offer it for less with promotional discounts.

RoboForm’s feature set is extensive and impressive. This password management software offers everything that other password managers do plus a whole lot more. This coupled with the fact that no program we tested was easier to understand and use than RoboForm Pro makes us highly recommend this software application to anyone looking for an incredible password manager that can do it all.

2. LastPass

LastPass encrypts your sensitive information on your PC and only the Master Password can unlock it. LastPass has taken major steps to eliminate hacking and key logging risks with services like Automatic Password Generator, Virtual Keyboard facility and a One Click Login feature. It also supports features like sharing passwords with your friends without risk of phishing, importing/exporting your data, backing up and restoring it. You can access your data from anywhere in the world, you just need to have internet access. You get all of these features for FREE.

Moving on to LastPass Premium, one thing I love about LastPass is their very cheap and affordable Premium Plan. It costs only 1$ per month (billed annually) and you get LastPass applications for your iPhone, Blackberry, Android and all other mobile devices with a leading OS. All the features remain the same in the premium plan as they are in the free package, but you get an Ad-Free experience and an awesome application for your mobile devices.

3. Sticky Password

Sticky Password

Sticky Password has a comprehensive feature set that focuses on three areas: password management, form filling and security.

Password management is easy with this application. The built-in password generator creates strong passwords that are difficult-to-impossible for anyone to guess. The software then protects these with strong encryption algorithms so that they can only be accessed by a master password that you create. So you don’t have to worry about remembering passwords – especially the rock-solid (but difficult to remember) ones that the software creates for you – but only have to remember one master password.

The software also allows for multiple users. Each user is fully protected because no user can see the other users’ protected information. The application also backs up the information to an external drive to keep you from losing your passwords to a damaged hard drive. You can also print a list of all the information contained in the database. The software also allows you to take your passwords with you on a USB flash drive and works with mobile phones.

Form filling can be a tedious process. Sticky Password management software takes care of all that for you. Just create an identity card with all your information once and it will fill in all the fields for you with one click, saving you time and energy. It also will log you in automatically when you visit password-protected sites without any input from you at all.

It also provides you with the tools to defeat phishing websites designed to mimic real sites that you visit and trust. While you may be fooled by the appearance of a site, this software is not. There is also a virtual keyboard function to defeat keyloggers because you won’t be using your keyboard to login. The secure virtual keyboard lets you type in usernames and passwords by using your mouse to input text, so key loggers can’t monitor your keystrokes.

4. SurfSecret

SurfSecret KeyPad can instantly and securely sign you in to your favorite websites and online accounts. This password management software integrates with Internet Explorer so that you can quickly login to your accounts. It also securely stores personal information like credit card numbers and protects you from phishing and keyloggers.

The software application is portable and can be launched from a USB device to help you easily login to your accounts from any computer without compromising your security. SurfSecret can manage all of your information so you no longer have to remember all your login information for the various sites you visit and use daily.

This password management software is easy to use and is capable of performing all the tasks that a password manager should. The best part is that the trial version never expires. It is limited to 10 logins, however, so if you need to manage more than that, you’ll have to upgrade to the paid version. This can be accomplished seamlessly, so downloading and using the free version of SurfSecret password management software is a smart way to get started. Once you have more logins than you can manage, simply download the upgrade and you’re good to go.

5. AnyPassword

AnyPassword is a full-featured password manager that lets you store passwords, user IDs, and related information together in a safe place. The program saves passwords, fills login forms, automatically logs you into a web site or program. AnyPassword Pro keeps all your sensitive data in a secure password storage protected with a strong encryption. A built-in password generatorhelps you to create unique secure passwords that are difficult to guess. The program supports tree-type data structure, advanced search, import and export of data, and much more. Save your time and enhance security, get your password keeper now! You can download a full function trial copy of AnyPassword Pro password manager for free. AnyPassword Pro supports all Windows versions.

6. TK8 Safe

TK8 Safe is a promising password manager that has many features and a nicely designed interface. Compared with the top password management software products, however, it is less efficient, more difficult to use and lacks some of the features that make the top-ranked applications stand out from the crowd.

One of the best features of this password management software is its portability. It can be stored and run from a USB flash drive so that you can use your secure login information on any computer. You can also obtain a free DropBox account to store and synchronize your user database online and access it from multiple computers.

Other features include automatic backup, convenient hot keys to perform common tasks, an integrated password generator, a file-synchronization feature that can combine two separate databases into one and multi-user support that will allow multiple users to work with the same file simultaneously.

7. KeePass

Keepass is a very small, free and OSI (Open Source Initiative) certified offline password manager. First thing you will need to do after the installation is to create a database and Composite Master Key (CMK), the CMK is the only password you will need to remember. However, if you forget your CMK, you can use a key file and a Windows user account to access your Keepass database. Key files can be created by Keepass and should be stored securely. If they get misplaced then the Keepass database and all the stored data will be gone. Just be careful while securing your key files. And the good thing, its is free.

8. Password Agent

Password agent

Password Agent is a password manager that stores login information, credit card numbers and text files. This program is simple in design but difficult to manage. The password management software works separately from your internet browser and only allows you to use the auto-fill options if the application is open. You still have to click the auto-fill button and make sure your cursor is in the exact field where you want to input the information, or the software will enter your user data in the wrong place. Overall, this password safe is far less intuitive than our higher-ranked products.

This password safe allows you to store more than simple login information. With it you can keep track of credit card information, serial numbers, software activation codes and more – anything that can be stored as a text file. Each card has a title and contains login information, the link to the appropriate website, the date the information was stored, when the password will expire and any notes regarding the file that you’d like to make.

9. Password Manager XP

Password manager

Password Manager XP is a well-designed password management software application from CP-Lab that integrates with your internet browser to help you save, organize and manage all your login information and automatically log you in to the websites you visit using the login information saved in your database.

This application includes many of the same features as our higher-ranked programs. It is portable on a USB flash drive, mobile-phone compatible, highly secure and works on all Windows operating systems, but it is less intuitive and a little more difficult to learn than our top-rated password managers RoboForm Pro and Sticky Password. In such a tight competition, however, the small distinctions make the difference, which is why this password safe ranks fourth even though it is by no means an inferior application in most respects.

10. TraySafe

Tray Safe

TraySafe password management software by Arovax has many features available to the user. All encrypted information contained in the program can be found through a search function, transferred to portable devices and exported to other files. TraySafe can perform all the functions common among password managers, and we found it to be easy to use and with a well-designed user interface.

This password management software is less expensive than other password managers by about 10 dollars. For the price cut, you sacrifice some complex features but none of the essential functions. For a more comprehensive password safe, however, check out the reviews of our top products RoboForm Pro and Sticky Password.

11. Handy Password Manager

handy password

Handy Password Manager integrates seamlessly into your web browser and saves your usernames and logins, financial information and general data with ease. Another option is to manually enter all your information into the database located in the application window that can be launched from your desktop.

This password management software integrates with your web browser as a toolbar, making it readily available when you’re surfing the web and need to enter your login info. All of your user information can be accessed through the toolbar, or you can open the application from your desktop and edit information directly in the application window. You can also save new login information directly from the toolbar. All you have to do is click the “save” button before you sign in to a new account and Handy Password will store the information for next time you visit the site.

12. 1Password

1Password enables you to securely fill your username and password in a login form with only a few keystrokes and a single click. You can also create your identities, which can help you in filling web forms rapidly, for example; you can store multiple credit cards to simplify and speed up your online shopping for filling checkout forms with ease.

13. Aurora Password Manager

Aurora Password

The Internet Explorer toolbar plug-in was the most convenient feature. The software integrates directly with your browser, making it easy to login to your protected accounts without opening another software window. If the software had the ability to prompt you to save passwords or automatically detect websites in the database we would have rated it higher in the features category.

Some of the impressive additional features of this password management software application include unlimited user-defined fields that allow you to store the information that is specifically important to you, integrated backup and restore functionality and the ability to export the information in the database to printable files including HTML, XML and CSV.

14. Sxipper

Sxipper is a free Firefox add-on. It can keep track of an unlimited number of usernames and passwords, it can remember your personal data for accurate form filling and it recognizes OpenID forms and helps you manage your OpenIDs. Sxipper protects your personal data by keeping it secure on your computer system and if you want to share it online, you can easily retrieve it. No account is required, just install the plugin and it will begin to save your data automatically. It is available for Firefox only.

15. KeyWallet

key wallet

Your private data (keys and preferences) is NEVER transmitted to the KeyWallet web server or anywhere else. It is always stored LOCALLY on your computer. KeyWallet encrypts all your data and saves it in your profile directory, which is normally located under the KeyWallet program directory and is named by your Windows login. To be completely sure about the fact that KeyWallet does not send any data anywhere, you can use a desktop firewall program. This program will trace which application sends data.

KeyWallet uses the Blowfish encryption algorithm with variable-length key, from 32 bits to 448 bits. The key length depends on the password length.

I use Intuitive Password. A “rock solid” cloud password manager. Very secure and easy to use. Developed by an Australian company.

Can you transfer your list from roboform into any of these?
