Facebook is currently the most popular social networking website ever with more than 500 million active users in July 2010, which is about one person for every fourteen in the world. It was launched in February 2004 and is operated and have grown to be one of the most used websites on the internet and is believed to have more traffic than google.com. Users can add a personal profile and mark people as friends and send them messages, and update their personal profiles to notify friends about themselves. Additionally, users can join networks/groups organized by workplace, school, or college.

Facebook has a good web-based platform, powerful APIs and a complete documentation that convenient the developers in building personalize applications.
