Metacritics is an excellent website for anyone who likes movies, games and media in general. I have used it many times to get an idea of how good a game is. The site simply collect ratings from tons of websites and use it to give the reader an overall idea and to calculate an average rating. If a game or movie have a good average rating (Meta score) it is probably very good.

Do you think that this automatic content is bit of a risk on a professional site? Would it be better to build a monster site full of other people’s feeds and harness the juice in that site via a single link to your blemish-free site?

I’ve tested automatic content generation a few times and observed it on the sites of others.
There is no risk of being banned from Google or having diminished rankings as far as I’ve seen.
The difficulty is there is very little upside as well!
Unless the incoming content is made unique is some way Google sees it as “old news” and generally ignores it in so far as “juice” and improved rankings go.

Yes an no…depends on how it is used. If you pull content from sources that you have no agreement with it is not a good idea however you may use it to automate “legal” stuff also….
Don’t use auto blogging software. Your blog won’t get anywhere.
