Twitter is a pretty important social media service for anyone trying to have an online presence. Once you have build a follower base sending them regular tweets really can make a difference ex. for attracting traffic to your blog or your online business. Problem is – it takes time to keep taking all the time at the twitter party and since you have no idea when your followers are listening some tooling help can be needed. By taking time to prepare what you are going to tweet over the day and then schedule the tweets throughout the day you will be sure that as many as possible will see a tweet or two of yours. Is this OK or is it fundamentally wrong to “act as you are there?”. I think it is OK really if you still remember to tweet normally as well with your close twitter contacts and maintain your relationships. Scheduling is for marketing purpose and for reaching the masses… do you agree? This article lists most of the services available for scheduling tweets for future publish. Many of the services have other useful features and you may find that one or more in combination can significantly improve how you use twitter.
HootSuite
HootSuite is a fully featured and free web based twitter client. I personally use it because it has loads of features. First of all it works with the ow.ly (now ht.ly) link shortener which allows you to keep track of how effective your tweeted links are (essential if you’re a blogger). hootsuite also allow you to use a send later feature making it possible to record tweets that are sent through out the day (and if using ping.fm it will go to your entire network). hootsuite is a full twitter interface providing the tools you need. It also integrates with tools like wordpress allowing you to post from hootsuite to wordpress.
tweet adder
I have been using this tool for several months now. It is not free ($55 one time payment for a single twitter profile and $74 for five profiles and so on…) but you get a lot of useful features for that – probably the best money can buy (in terms of twitter marketing and automation). You can try it out as a trail first so don’t hesitate trying it! First of all You can manage more than one twitter profile which is important for some people. Then you can set up a multitude of tweets in the software, and allow the software to spread them out through out the day to keep you actively involved on twitter while you enjoy yourself with your free time. You can build a list of tweets (one per line) in a file and load it. You can also Automate Direct Messages, auto Follow Twitter Users, Auto Unfollow Twitter Users, keeps track of people you have un-followed so that you do not re-follow them, and much more. SocialOomph.com is a web-service that provides a rather large set of both free and paid functions to manage your social network. You can automate sending message to new followers on twitter and a lot more including scheduling tweets.

FutureTweets.com is a free service that lets you schedule your Twitter messages. Send it at a specific time in the future or send a reoccuring Tweet daily, weekly, monthly or yearly!

After HootSuite, there’s not really a standout tool on that list. It’s a shame really, that so many tools offer pretty much the same functionality.
Then again, there’s not much room for innovation in the field of Tweet scheduling.
You can also use social whale to schedule tweets and it will also schedule status updates in Facebook, linkedin, myspace and other services
Scheduling tweets can be a great tool for many types of users. Naturally, marketers are one of the first categories of users that come to mind for this type of tweeting. I think another category that would make good use of these tools is Twitter DJs. Along with Blip.fm and one of these tweet scheduling tools you can have a play list going for the whole day, or a week. Then you can focus on the more personal messages and building relationships with followers, rather than worrying about keeping up with the number of posts that you feel you need to make.

Twitter has become a important social networking site for everyone, small and large businesses, or any individuals. Through, Twitter we can update our status so that we are connected in network continuously. But sometimes due to lack of time it may not be possible to type twitter status continuosly, But through twitter tools like Spokentwitter we can update twitter status from anywhere and from any phone like you can listen to your twitter timeline reply, delete your personal messages and even Retweet a message from your phone itself. A good tool especially for people continuosly on the move like Journalists, news reporters, interviewers, TV or Radio Anchors.
Have tried them all….many have their advantages and/or disadvantages. If someone can show me anything close to what Twaitter does, I will switch over. Meantime, nobody holds a candle to Twaitter. Used to use Hootsuite and they were very good until Twitter tied their hands forcing us to do one future tweet at a time. Twitter is like any other media; tv radio newspaper etc. It IS an advertising venue no matter what people say. A message has to be seen again and again before it “sinks in”. Twaitter allows that just like a tv, radio etc. campaign. The other services might take a page out of their book. Sincerely, Rick London

I am a little surprised that, with so many of these articles on the net (“best twitter scheduling tools, etc”), not one writer can actually recommend one app over another. And none of you seem to have any reliability gaugues, based on past/current performance?
Ive tried many of these apps, today was the turn of TWUFFER (had to do the same tweet over 10 times before it saved it to a scheduled time, then that time came and went, and it said it was sent, but it did not appear in my tweets, since then i have been unable to schedule anything!), and FUTURE TWEETS (Ive spent over 2 hrs setting up and scheduling over 20 tweets @ 1 per hr, then I go away for 12 hrs, and realise that tweets stopped after about 3 hrs. Now their site is unreachable, and the app for that matter)
Any chance you ‘reviewer’ guys could start setting up performace tests and access some form of info about the app’s bandwidth/capabilities over a period of time? Could you get this info? And why does Twitter not just recommend one scheduler, and allow it to be developed and to become stable?
More importantly, is there any users out there who have actually used one of these apps successfully, and regularly, over the past few months?

Great post and a truly awesome list. However there is a new kid on the block I am using, which is way easier than all 18 above
. With Buffer all you do is throw a few tweets in your Buffer and in return they will be scheduled FOR you. Super simple. Make sure to give it a go.

I have been using an app called AutoTweeterPro for sometime. It’s a small & very easy-to-use software, which tweets from my computer. I am using unlimited trial version,which is as good as free. Hope you will find this tip useful –http://bit.ly/autotweeterPro1
We have been using Time2Tweet, which has been quite good. Especially since it is free and you may bulk import tweets. The only drawback is that it has a specific amount of tweets to publish per day, so they don’t always work.
