25 High Quality Free Fonts for Professional Design

Regardless of industry and product top quality usually comes at high prize. When it comes to Fonts the same fundamental rule applies. The prize of good Fonts usually reflects their quality and start at around $50 going up to thousands of dollars. This may not fit into the budget of most minor design jobs and fortunately there are free alternatives that really is worth investigating before purchasing fonts. This article will give you an overview of some high quality free fonts available for use in professional designs. Please take a minute to review licens terms before using any of the fonts as this may change. Also please leave a comment if you know an excellent free font.



Serif Beta

Serif Beta is a very legible large serif family of free fonts, including 3 fontspacks with the optic weights 6, 12 und 72 (overall 14 weights). The family includes swash-glyphs and black-weights. Each font has 274 glyphs. Free for personal and commercial use.

MISO is an architectural lettering font completed in 2006 by Mårten Nettelbladt. It’s available in three weights (light, regular, bold) in TrueType format for Windows.

Chunk Open Source Typeface

Chunk is an ultra-bold slab serif typeface that is reminiscent of old American Western woodcuts, broadsides, and newspaper headlines. Used mainly for display, the fat block lettering is unreserved yet refined for contemporary use. OpenType. Download the .zip-package



A beautiful slab-serif typeface, designed by Manfred Klein. The family consists of 6 weights, regular, bold, extra bold, black, small caps and small caps bold



This humanist sans-serif family is available in OpenType-format in three weights: ExtraLight, Regular and Bold. The typeface can be perfectly used both in body copy and in headlines.



Designed by Caroline Hadilaksono, Junction is a humanist sans-serif typeface. It has elegant, clean and very sharp glyphs, but contains only 100 most common symbols.



Comfortaa is a simple, modern, legible true type font with 466 different characters and symbols (incl. European accents). Available in three weights: Regular, Bold and Thin. Droid Font Family

Google’s Android project, an open platform for mobile devices comes with a set of typefaces from Ascender Fonts known as the Droid family. It has been designed to provide optimal quality and comfort on a mobile handset when rendered in application menus, web browsers and for other screen text.


The Droid family of fonts consists of Droid Sans, Droid Sans Mono and Droid Serif. Each contains extensive character set coverage including Western Europe, Eastern/Central Europe, Baltic, Cyrillic, Greek and Turkish support. You find description and specimen here.

CartoGothic Std

A legible sans-serif typeface, in the opentype format; 4 weights are available: book, italic, bold and bold italic. License agreement. There is a commercial version available as well. Win and Mac.


Resonance Bold

This type family consists of smooth curves and fine lines, and evokes the spirit of the 1970s. Resonance is a great typeface family for use on retro and vintage posters, flyers and also headings.(Registration is required)


Nadia Serif

This serif typeface is available for free download; the only requirement for using it is to send a PDF or any other copy of the work using this typefaces to its designers. Download Mac (Postscript) or Download PC (TrueType)

Mayberry Pro SemiBold

AscenderFonts released the font Mayberry Pro Semi Bold available for free download. This font belongs to the Mayberry Pro family. This family is a humanist sans serif designed by Steve Matteson to provide optimal legibility on screen in applications ranging from User Interfaces to web pages. The registration is required to download the font.

I don’t think so that those kinds of font are boring because for me they are for professional types of website to be used on. Fonts are really important because they represent how your site would be if it is intended for entertainment or professional. To choose a good font is one of the critical ways for a web designer.
