This is a helpful article. But there are some areas that are too simplified and I think cause confusion. The idea of visitors reading in an \'F\' pattern mentioned in one of the linked articles is only partially true and very dependent on the content of the site and the intention of the visitor. For example HCI students reading about user web habits will read much more in-depth than a designer looking for a fast tip.
And then the 7+/- limit is not about information processing ( humans can process large amount of information at a single time) but only about how many items can be held in short term memory at one time. That particular article claims that complexity is dealt with by chunking and that also is incorrect. People chunk simple things like phone numbers. Chunking happens because of how people organize information for instance jfkfbiciapbs seems difficult to remember but if you notice and recognize the patterns jfk fbi cia pbs that is easily remembered.
I\'m only pointing these things out because how we come to understand principles of usability greatly affect how well we apply them. I think we shouldn\'t over simplify for the sake of ease.
