45+ Exceptionally Useful Free Handwritten Fonts

For quite some time companies and governments have been working hard to make daily life things available as digital services in whatever way possible. At the same time most communication is handled digitally by sending emails or chatting. Sending a good old snail mail letter is still possible but not that popular really. Some people send real paper post cards when they are on vacation but as more and more handheld gadgets and hotels with Internet allow us to be online even on vacation we either tend to blog or stick to digital communication these days. The advantages that computers give us is obvious but the complete turnaround that have happened over just a few years makes real life stuff like fx. hand written text catch most peoples attention (even though it is presented on a computer screen). Hand writing is something we all know very well and have been working hard to learn in school, it may bring up emotions, memories, images that a plain verdana or times roman can’t compete with. While hand written fonts may be very useful to achieve certain design goals they are not to be applied in any case. Long text and difficult to read text are examples where hand written fonts may be painful for the reader. For headers and short notes hand written fonts may be very useful.

Nice set of fonts!

Imitation is not free, however. All that can be downloaded is an demo set that lacks a number of characters–most notably e. For $5, the creator of the font will send the complete font file.

this is hardly a list of ‘handwritten’ fonts. some of these really are script, but others are just a dirty-looking (and by that i don’t mean they look bad) or sketch-like versions of regular typefaces like helvetica. that doesn’t mean they’re not useful/pretty/well made; my beef is with people considering these two groups as just one category.

on a side note, these get old VERY fast. as a case in point, see ‘karabine’ and ‘tiza’ (the latter isn’t on the list). sometimes it’s good to keep it simple, keep that in mind.

I have a “beef” as well. This person has provided us with a nice collection of fonts for no reason other than a desire to share them.
Quit worrying and complaining about the small things like the mislabeling and just enjoy what they’ve given us.

I certainly agree with Anony. It’s wonderful that people provide a free resource for us out of the kindness of their hearts. There’s no reason to heap gratuitous criticism on them for what they have done. If you don’t like it, pass it by and go to the next site. Simple civility and good manners.

I’ve always been a sucker for good handwritten fonts. Such fonts can take you places that no other fonts can. You can achieve some really nice (and dramatic) results with handwritten fonts. Thanks for the collection. I’ll be installing a few on my computer right away.
