In this article tripwire magazine provide 70 themes for Drupal 6. Some are free but I have also decided to add some premium themes as well. Why? Because the selection of free themes may not meet your needs and if you’re really serious about your start-up or redesign the cost of a premium theme should not be holding you back. Premium Themes may actually be a wise choice as they “normally” have more features, are more flexible and in most cases will be supported and maintained as new versions of Drupal is released.

Drupal is one of the 3 very popular free open source Content Management Systems (WordPress, Joomla and Drupal) that more and more people use on their web-sites or blogs. In fact these 3 CMS platforms are dominating the market and they are still claiming more market share from the less popular competitors. Drupal may not be as popular as WordPress and Joomla and that may be the reason why there seams to be significantly fewer free themes and modules available for Drupal compared to the two other competitors. Using a WordPress simple theme is also worth considering.

Extra! Extra!
Extra! Extra! is a sharp new Drupal newspaper theme, with 2 or 3-column layout. Horizontal drop down menus are styled for you to add sub-menu items on your primary links, and a large “featured” region at the top is great for your top breaking story! The narrow left column is ideal for a skyscraper ad or narrow menu. Perfect for lots of text, multiple menus, and views of your content — have a fully-featured newspaper site without any coding using CCK, Views, and Nodequeue. We’re using images and embedded video stories on here as well, which allow you to neatly define thumbnail and preview versions.

Market Share
Market Share is a professional theme for your Ubercart store or corporate website. It’s extremely clean and flexible, with beautiful forms, menus, sidebars, and a strong optional upper banner region that can be easily customized for your own company and brand. The two regions in this image banner area show and hide depending on if you have content available, and you can remove or replace the photos shown here. The header or upper banner region would also be excellent for displaying ads.

Ruby Sands
Ruby Sands is an ideal blog or community theme, with a flexible multi-column layout and strong block accents. Perfect for lots of text, multiple menus, and views of your content. The block regions are all optional and collapsible, with flexible rounded corners. Plenty in your upper regions allow you to create completely different layouts for your home page or other landing pages.

Floristo
Floristo is a beautiful theme for your Drupal storefront, with a fluid width. The sidebar(s) will stay at a fixed width in place at the sides of the screen, up until a maximum width, and your main content area will expand to fill the available space. This is great for showcasing lots of products or a large amount of information. The theme is a one, two, or three column layout, with the sidebar available on either the left or right. Primary and secondary links are in your header, with a dropdown menu available.

Bubblr
A web 2.0 theme with a web 2.0 name. Bubblr is a light, polished theme with rounded corners and some soft gradients. It has a monochromatic feel in greys and blues, but with orange accents. There are trios of preface and postscript regions with their own unique styling for highlighted content. Great for lots of menu items with custom menu styles in the sidebars, three levels deep. Lots of nice little touches in this theme, such as the two-tone page titles, custom login block style, and shaded table headers.

Luxe
This luxurious Ubercart theme for Drupal 5 and 6 will give your online store an elegant new look. It’s a deep raspberry and cream theme with optional left sidebar for blocks, menus, and secondary content. The block background in the sidebar subtly alternates with a swirl pattern. Luxe would also work well for a non-ecommerce site, such as a service provider for home products, design, beauty, or anything needing a rich, timeless look.

It’s The New Black
Brown — it’s the new black. Combine that with splashes of pink and turquoise and you have a very trendy, yet professional theme. This corporate Drupal theme has rounded corners on its blocks and regions. Menus also have custom styling in both sidebars and the footer, so this theme is excellent for a site with deep navigation.

Hot Pink
Sassy! Make a statement for your site with a bold colour scheme and playful typography. Whether it’s for a pilates or dance studio, trendy fashion blog, or other grrl-powered community, your site will definitely be remembered in Hot Pink. It’s an uber-flexible theme, with a top banner area for highlighting featured content. Common Drupal core and Views blocks are nicely styled in the theme’s regions for attractive listings of your content.

Fresh Start
Clean and fresh, like a beautiful spring day. Fresh Start is a professional new Drupal theme, with a graphical banner area that could be easily replaced with a custom graphic (stock images shown are included though). Whether you are promoting an environmental cause or a new startup, the metaphor of “growth” is shown throughout the theme. Splashes of colour in the preface regions can be used for static blocks or dynamic content (works great with the Views module!), to showcase information you want to convey.

Vidz
Vidz is a clean, friendly theme that would suit a multimedia portal or community website well. The large tab design element at the top makes your logo or site name stand out! In addition to the styled content top and content bottom regions, it has collapsible sets of 1-3 preface and postscript regions. The extra neat thing here is custom media field theming. If you’re using the Embedded Media Field module (which works wonderfully with CCK and Views 2), this theme will automatically float your media to the right in teaser listings and full nodes, so that your text content sits beside the media.

Go Green
Light, clean, professional. Go Green is a blue and green Drupal theme, with light gradients and rounded corners. This theme has several flexible upper and lower areas for highlighted content which automatically collapse and stretch to fill the available space. Go Green is an excellent theme for a blog or corporate site with large amounts of text in easy-to-read narrow columns. Custom styles for quoted text and calendar page icons for your post date give this theme a little extra personality!

Pump Up The Volume
Wanna dark theme that kicks it up a notch? Pump Up The Volume is one of the slickest Drupal themes you’ve ever seen. Black and grey set the tone, with punches of red and blue for colour. The flexible rounded corners and gradients adapt to your regions to create at least a dozen unique layouts. Also there are six collapsible, variable width preface and postscript regions. Your forms have had extra TLC, with a specially themed login block, and custom button backgrounds for different forms. Great for a social/media site, Drupal’s forums, comments, and user signatures are also styled with strong typography.

Sharp Sales
If you’re looking for the sharpest, classiest look for your e-commerce Drupal store, Sharp Sales is your theme. One of TopNotchThemes’ most popular themes, it has over a dozen styled regions for your content. Crisp, clean, and corporate, the cool colours of this theme dress up Ubercart to a new level and can work for a wide variety of store styles. Subtle gradients and hover effects polish up each corner, with mouseover styles for menu items, products, and buttons.

Stockholm
Clean, modern, stylish. This is a bright, light, minimalist Ubercart e-commerce theme. Primary and secondary links are styled, as well as spots for your logo, site title, slogan, and mission, which can be easily added through Drupal’s interface. Special attention has been paid to the e-commerce features, including your catalog and subcategory page layouts, and theming for additional product fields on your item pages. The cart and checkout forms have been styled to match the look and feel of the website, with custom button theming so your important action items stand out. Also, the usual Drupal styling backs this design for your content and user pages. The header image could be easily replaced with your own background image to give this theme an easy custom look.

All Geared Up
All Geared Up takes on some of the best elements of modern web design — rounded corners, shiny drop down menus, bright splashes of colour, and a clean, polished look. This is a very flexible theme, with a translucent drop down menu for your primary links and two different header styles that allow you to create a custom front page for your site. The preface regions are collapsible, and the sidebar expands and alternates between two block styles. Postscript regions are designed to match the site and can be used in any combination. As with all our themes, All Geared Up comes with an optional Panels layout for easier building of your site.

Legal Papers
They say the law is open to interpretation, right? Well, so is this theme. With plenty of block styles in the sidebar and above/below your content area, you can call out your highlighted content excerpts while keeping a clean white surface for your main articles. The optional city photo and other images could easily be swapped out using the included .psd file to change the look to suit your business. Collapsible prefaces and postscripts are great for those “calls to action” on your site, or for crucial info such as contact details.

Hip Two Oh
Modern, crisp, dark green theme with a punch of brightness. This theme has an (optional) knockout search box and is great for showcasing large amounts of content. It has a wide right sidebar and several upper and lower regions for highlighted content with rounded edges. There is additional forum styling, as well as fully themed blocks for Panels 2.

Child’s Play
Who knew Ubercart could be so fun? A playful colour scheme, rounded corners, and regions that pop all call out for your products to sell. Use the optional content top region to add a photo and describe your store on your home page. Ubercart’s category and product grid views, and cart, checkout, and product pages have all been themed, as well as default blocks. Your product pages will stand out with multiple, easily adjustable image sizes.

Spring Forward
Spring your website into action with this bright, modern, fun design with spring colours. Shown is a design for a web hosting company, but this design would work great for many site types. It features an expandable primary menu and clean sidebar navigation. There are multiple preface and postscript regions with colour variations, great for teasers, lists, or static content. Particular attention has been given to table theming.

2 things:
Comparing Wordpress to Drupal and Joomla is a bit misleading. Wordpress does one thing: blogs, and it does them very well. If you try to extend Wordpress to do what Drupal and Joomla does, you will be in a world of pain in very short order.
Judging a CMS’s popularity by how many free themes you find is the apex of laziness. Each CMS website has a list of professional organizations using their software, which IMHO, is much more useful then how many free themes you might find.
very good information here, keep posting more. I have few questions, can you answer any of my questions.
